Healthy Harbors – Summer 2016
This project-based science program engages middle school students in the understanding of our marine ecosystems on a global and local level. Students researched, conducted experiments and engaged in fun daily activities to better understand our delicate marine habitat and the dangers that it faces. Teams developed and implemented projects that helped address real problems in the waters in and around Salem. The program included field trips to local beaches and other marine habitats, two trips in a research boat and other water and land-based activities. A continuation of this program will be offered during the school year as part of the after-school enrichment program for middle school students Expanding Horizons.
