Salem at SEA 2016

Salem at SEA – Summer 2016

The Salem at SEA program will strengthen – and put to use – ELL high school students’ developing English language skills as they research, identify, and work toward serving a need in the Salem community. The team will study local history and modern cultural issues in partnership with historical organizations such as the House of Seven Gables. They will learn how to become active citizens and be encouraged to use their bilingualism as they serve community needs. By the end of the summer students will learn about the community of Salem and better understand ways to effect change in their communities and work together to take action on the issues they identify.

Partners: Salem State University, the House of Seven Gables, Salem Public Schools and LEAP for Education came together to offer this free university-based summer program specifically designed for ELL students who want to continue to improve their English through the summer.
