Commuter rail service to downtown Salem from North Station in Boston. MBTA train service to Wonderland (Blue Line) where you can take a bus to downtown Salem.
From the Salem Commuter Rail Station, climb the stairs to Washington Street. Walk down Washington St. and take a left at the fountain at the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall. Follow the pedestrian mall to the end (past the Peabody Essex Museum) and take a right onto Hawthorne Boulevard. Cross Derby St. at the lights and continue straight onto Congress St. (.7 miles, about 15 minute walk)
Follow Route 114 to Salem MA. On Norman St. (downtown) take a left. Passing the Post Office on your right, go through the first set of lights and onto Derby St. Follow Derby St. to the second set of lights and take a right onto Congress St.
From the Airport:
Follow 1A North to Salem (in Lynn, Lewis St. and in Salem Loring Avenue) and then take a left on Lafayette St. at Salem State University. Follow Lafayette St. until Peabody St. (Wendy’s on corner) and take a right on Peabody St. which dead ends at Congress St. 35 Congress St. is across the street.
There are many shortcuts rather than the long, slow 1A – this is when google maps or your GPS should be used.
