Amanda Monaco

University of Connecticut
Bachelor of Arts in Art History
Double Minor in Studio Art and Digital Art

Amanda has been attending the College Success Program since her junior year at Salem High School. While at UConn she has been tremendously involved with her sorority, working as the Public Relations Chair and the Merchandise Chair. She has also worked as an intern for the Athletics Office and the Students Union at UConn, and The Gold Group and the New England Sports Network. After graduation, Amanda plans to get a job in her field where she can apply all that she has learned in her many internships.




Henderson Román

Henderson is a dedicated, outgoing, and enthusiastic student with a passion for learning. He came to LEAP as a middle school student for homework help and academic enrichment. Henderson became involved with the College Success Program during his senior year at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. He will be the first in family to graduate from college.




Idekelly “Kelly” Santana King

Northeastern University
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Minor in Mathematics

Kelly has always been a diligent and focused student, always putting her education first. While at Northeastern University she maintained a 3.9 GPA and was awarded two prestigious scholarships. She was also involved at LEAP working as a Teacher’s Assistant for the Zero Robotics program.

*Sibblings Josh and Scarlet Santana have also participated in LEAP’s programs.




Natalia Pagán Suárez

North Shore Community College
Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts

Born in Puerto Rico, Natalia comes from a family of educators.  She is interested in a career teaching English to ELL students (English Language Learners). Natalia has participated in the College Success Program since her junior year of high school. While still in high school, Natalia lost her father to cancer, although this was a difficult time for her family, she turned it into something positive by creating a Cancer Support Program at Salem High School, to provide support to other students with parents suffering from cancer.

UPDATE: Natalia transferred to Salem State University where she continues to work towards the completion of her bachelor’s degree.




Nathalie Reyes

Salem State University
Bachelor of Arts in World Language and Cultures with a concentration in French

Nathalie is a trilingual, intelligent young woman who is passionate about traveling and new adventures. While at Salem State University, she was involved with the French club, serving as the Vice President and the Resident Assistant. Durinf the fall of her junior year, she studied abroad in Paris and, based on that experience, plans to find a job after graduation that will allow her to work abroad. Nathalie will be the first in her family to graduate from college.




Rajira Hernández

Salem State University
Bachelor of Science in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations
Minor in Marketing

Rajira is a very capable individual, going above and beyond with her involvement at LEAP where she worked as a Marketing/Administrative Assistant during her junior year. She also worked as an intern at Sperling Interactive in Salem, and at Kel & Partners in Boston. After graduation Rajira plans to get a job with a PR agency. She is first generation in her family to graduate from college.




Sandra Castillo

Bucknell University
Bachelor of Arts in Economics

Sandra joined the College Success Program in her junior year at Salem High School. Armed with a high GPA and several extracurricular activities, LEAP staff knew she would be a prime candidate for the prestigious Posse Scholarship. She was the first Posse scholar at LEAP and the first at Salem High School. Sandra will be the first in her family to graduate from college.




Scarlet Santana

North Shore Community College
Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education

Scarlet joined the College Success Program in her junior year of high school. Throughout her college career, she has maintained excellent grades while working close to fourty hours per week. After graduation, Scarlet will be looking for a job as a substitute teacher. Her goal is to open her own daycare, and she has been actively researching the requirements to achieve this.

Susan Phung

Salem State University
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice

Susan joined the College Success Program during her junior year in high school. While in college she worked for LEAP for a summer as an Office Assistant. Susan will be the first in her family to graduate from college.




Veronica Silva

Wheelock College
Bachelor of Science in Counseling Psychology
Double Minor in Juvenile Justice and Writing

Veronica joined the College Success Program in her junior year of high school. After graduation, Veronica plans to further her education by attending graduate school. Eventually, she would like to use her experience and education to work as a therapist within the Department of Youth Services.




Yaritza Sánchez

North Shore Community College
Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts

Yaritza moved to Salem in 2009. She became involved with LEAP in 2010 and joined the College Success Program as a high school junior shortly after. Yaritza plans to transfer to a four year college to complete a BS degree in Biology, Biotechnology or Neuroscience.




Yugeily Feliz

Salem State University
Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education

Yugeily is a very hard working student. Throughout her time at SSU, she has worked at the Salem Community Child Care Center as a kindergarten teacher. She will continue to work there after graduation.
