2020 Summer Internship Program, Gloucester
Get a head start on your future! Be matched with a company where you will gain important workplace skills. Join our Summer Internship program and start to build a solid resume for college and future endeavors.
The first step in applying to the Summer Internship Program is filling out the online form so that we can get to know a little bit about you and your summer interests.
Our staff will then contact you within 2 weeks to schedule an interview.
The interview should take 30-45 minutes.
We will inform you about whether you are accepted into the program, and you will work with staff to explore possible jobs. We will help you prepare for interviews/meetings with potential employers, choose a position, and finalize your hiring.
If hired, you will attend a program orientation in June for one to two hours – date TBD. We may also have other meetings around interview skills and coaching in the spring.
- Gloucester Orientation is in June – date to be announced
The schedule of the internship will be decided between you and your employer and will be approximately 9 -15 hours per week from July 6th through August 14th. A job skills workshop will run every Wednesday for 2.5 hours over those 6 weeks, which is required as part of your job and will cover interview skills, resume writing, college, and more!
Most internships will be paid at minimum wage. There may be some positions that are unpaid. In these instances, LEAP for Education will arrange to pay a one-time stipend.
Gloucester High School also offers school credit for program participation of 54+ hours of work, and weekly workshop attendance.
**Both credit and pay are subject to consistent weekly workshop and job attendance. Excessive absences may lead to reduced/withheld stipends, pay and/or school credit.
